I finished the first draft of my latest piece last night. 120k words. Phew!! Now the editing. Exciting times.
So, back story. It's difficult with short stories. I find I don't add much with short pieces. Even my last novella, Tunnel, didn't have any, but then including it wouldn't have benefitted the story. Your's, on the other hand, I feel would. I'd drip feed little bits, maybe, as Maria says, adding Monologue. That's aways a good way. It helps to build character at the same time :)DRChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03352970077497112668noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644036152805047632.post-72511227510448519672019-04-15T07:11:23.367-07:002019-04-15T07:11:23.367-07:00Thanks, Maria, I'll add that to my 'cunnin...Thanks, Maria, I'll add that to my 'cunning plan' Mike Keytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15116528233058221536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644036152805047632.post-58973461160090313132019-04-15T07:10:10.872-07:002019-04-15T07:10:10.872-07:00Linda, it'll be fun tryingLinda, it'll be fun trying Mike Keytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15116528233058221536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644036152805047632.post-44795642864701054892019-04-13T08:52:43.752-07:002019-04-13T08:52:43.752-07:00That's always tough. A good blurb is mandatory to tie all the short stories together, but maybe you could start each short story with a blurb type introduction from Cross himself?

The intro that jump out of me goes like this: "I'm a man out of time, dumped like bad gin in a dirty glass." Or something like that.

You've got to convey that he's a fish out of water, while still maintaining his diction. And then of course, doing it in less than a hundred words. :)Maria Zanninihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01604862636922299273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644036152805047632.post-81991938595442904512019-04-12T12:25:13.983-07:002019-04-12T12:25:13.983-07:00That's a good question.
