You must be crushed with remorse, Maria :) I am looking foward to reading Sarum but it will have to fight its way up a bloody long list. Ref booze, I'd have a bottle for every shelf if I had the money. - a fine Madeira for my Trollopes, cheap whisky for my Saint collection, rare wine for my Moorcocks, and Port for my Everyman and Folio collection - for starters at least.Mike Keytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15116528233058221536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644036152805047632.post-44548097608970864152018-01-26T14:03:13.605-08:002018-01-26T14:03:13.605-08:00My book hoarding was cured after we moved to this ...My book hoarding was cured after we moved to this last house. 41 boxes of books--not counting the ones I stuffed into suitcases. I didn't think my back would ever work again.

Today, I limit myself severely. I buy ebooks if it's fiction, while most nonfiction is bought 2nd hand, with a few exceptions.

Last year I finally donated the bulk of my collection. I hold on to books signed by authors, who also happen to be friends, and treasure favorites like Aldus Huxley's, Brave New World.

I have a copy of Sarum, so loved it's nearly in tatters. I'm always searching for a copy in better shape because I'd like to read it again. I started reading the copy I have but the pages keep falling out.

I gave away nearly all my writer books to a couple of friends who visited me once. My library is finally manageable. There are a few books like atlases and art books that are more for coffee tables than bookshelves, but I fit them into the shelves like puzzle pieces.

Alas, I do not have any hidden booze on my shelves. :)

Book hoarding is an obsession, maybe it's a borderline mental illness, but certainly the most intelligent obsession a person can have.
