Eye problems. I think when you're young you're particularly sensitive to conformist pressures. The irony is that 'non-conformity' is invariably herdlike too. I try to avoid a 'soapbox' approach, though I confess to an occasional grouse :)Mike Keytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15116528233058221536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644036152805047632.post-89590865179272605002013-12-28T05:40:26.140-08:002013-12-28T05:40:26.140-08:00Sorry for the delay in replying, Misha. I take your point, for me religious denominations are just beanpoles leading to God. The mistake is replacing God for the beanpoles.Mike Keytonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15116528233058221536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644036152805047632.post-18475038556884716492013-12-21T14:39:17.258-08:002013-12-21T14:39:17.258-08:00Fascinating post, Mike. I think there's a non-conformist in many of us, those who have a distaste for the popular (art, opinion, ) solely because we hate to think we may be part of some group-think that steals our individuality. I know I always have.

Some folks are simply more vocal in their non-conformance. I tend to find aggressive, in-your-face non-conformance as distasteful as following the herd, especially in these days of social media where EVERYONE has a soap-box to stand on with their (usually off-the-cuff and unconsidered) opinions.

Thanks for sharing, and Merry Christmas to you and your family.Adam M. It's actually something I'm struggling with at the moment, because Christian as I am, I'm getting seriously upset with what churches get away with because the sheep in them assume that it must be right if the church says so. :-/ Misha Gerrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06364173848456424521noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1644036152805047632.post-39643164031670060952013-12-16T06:28:51.815-08:002013-12-16T06:28:51.815-08:00Nah, not deep, Claudia - grouchy. All I ask is to be left alone--and while they're at it, leave my money alone too.

Actually now that I think of it, that's pretty much where I draw the line. I don't care about a person's color, creed or sexual preferences, but start eyeing my life's savings and we're going to have words.
