Absolution, but not from these poor buggers

The River Wye, Forest of Dean in the background

The Old Ferry inn four miles from Monmouth.

There is nothing better for the soul than a walk in the woods or alongside a river, followed by a log fire and a pint of good beer. Especially after the excesses of Christmas.  My particular sin was the impulse purchase of a Game pie that I ended up with neither the time nor inclination to eat. I managed three substantial slices and that was it. Throwing it away was a sin, along with the seven slices of stale roast rib of beef from my birthday meal. Absolution will come slowly, but I doubt I’ll be getting it from these poor buggers.

Even so the river calms the soul and the Old Ferry Inn has excellent beer.

And a warm fire

re: Leftovers

I really have to plan meals like a general so there are limited casualties (leftovers). Greg can get picky, or sick with a cold, as he is right now.

Luckily we have dogs, and chickens, and a compost bin. Leftovers are still good for one of the three.

Happy New Year...and to you too, Maria

I try my best to cut down on waste but sometimes it just gets the better of you. The Inn looks lovely. I do love country walks and old pubs :)

Maria, my problem being a post war baby/austerity is that I find it hard to waste food so eat it instead which makes me some kind of human dustbin.

DRC the Inn is as nice as it looks, the river quietly hypnotic. There is also a working hand drawn ferry nearby
